Latex and natural rubber: recent advances for biomedical applications

نویسندگان

چکیده

Recently, latex (NRL) and natural rubber (NR) from Hevea brasiliensis have emerged as promising biomaterials renewable sources for biomedical applications. Although some attempts at commercial applications been made, there is a need to comprehensively document the state-of-the-art of these biopolymers regenerative medicine. Here we present recent advances in development NRL NR materials with potential properties including biocompatibility biodegradability. Due angiogenic NR, well-defined functional can be used drug delivery systems (oral/transdermal), scaffolds skin bone regeneration, dressings wound healing. The incorporation drugs, nanoparticles, cells, others into polymer chains offers wide range such antimicrobial activity sustained release systems. Concluding remarks on growth medicine were discussed.

Natural Rubber Latex Allergy

I n the past 10 years, IgE-mediated allergy to natural rubber latex has become a significant health problem in industrialized countries, especially among health care workers, patients with congenital malformations, and children with a history of multiple surgical interventions. Curative treatment inducing immunological tolerance in formerly sensitized patients is experimental and not yet genera...

Natural rubber latex allergy.

Immediate hypersensitivity to natural rubber latex (NRL) has become increasingly common during the last 20 years. It is currently one of the most frequently encountered occupational diseases among the healthcare workers and a problem even in other occupations where protective gloves are used. Several groups at high risk for developing NRL allergy have been defined, including healthcare workers ...

Recent Advances in Photoacoustic Imaging for Deep-Tissue Biomedical Applications

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI), a novel imaging modality based on photoacoustic effect, shows great promise in biomedical applications. By converting pulsed laser excitation into ultrasonic emission, PAI combines the advantages of optical imaging and ultrasound imaging, which benefits rich contrast, high resolution and deep tissue penetration. In this paper, we introduced recent advances of contra...
